What is a Sleep Disorder?
A sleep disorder is a disruptive pattern of sleep that can include difficulty falling or staying asleep, falling asleep at inappropriate times, excessive total sleep time, or abnormal behaviors associated with sleep.

Side effects of a sleep disorder can include increased fatigue, irritability, depression, reduced attention and concentration, mood changes, frequent illness, lost productivity and high accident rates.

Disrupted sleep due to breathing difficulty has been associated with abnormal heart rhythm, hypertension, accelerated heart disease, stroke and even death.

Are you at risk?
Several factors can increase the risk of developing sleep apnea including:

  • Family history of snoring
  • Obesity
  • Male gender
  • Post-menopausal women
  • Large neck circumference
  • Large tonsils and/or adenoids
  • Hypothyroidism

You may have a sleep disorder if you have:

  • Difficulty falling asleep
  • Trouble staying asleep
  • Snoring problems
  • Daytime fatigue
  • Insomnia
  • Restless Leg Syndrome

How Can We Help You?
You will spend a night sleeping in a private room in a home-like setting while being monitored by a specially trained sleep technician. Before you go to sleep, painless sensors will be applied to your body in order to measure your brain waves, eye movement, heart rate and breathing. The technician will monitor you on video as you sleep, and monitor oxygen levels, body movement and muscle activity.

Interpreting the Results
A physician specially trained in sleep disorders will read and interpret the results and provide you with a recommendation for treatment and followup.
